The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu through his aide Iddi Muhayu-Deen, has noted that the NPP party did not cause the defeat of Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye but rather secured what they pursued by getting Hon.Joe Osei Owusu and Issac Asiamah as first and second deputy speakers.

According to the statement sighted by Ghgossip.com ,John Boadu noted that ;

“John Boadu, as a key stakeholder in the matters that were before the august house, was invited to participate in the background negotiations involving the leadership of both sides during the deadlock, whereupon he played an instrumental role in getting the NDC side to agree to support the NPP’s proposal to have Hon. Joe Osei Owusu and Hon. Amoako Asiamah, elected on consensus, as First and Second Deputy Speakers respectively.”

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP)lost the Speaker of parliament elections to NDC’s Alban Bagbin.
