As tradition demands, various Ghanaian artistes have predictably sprouted out to throw their weight behind two of Ghana’s giant political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the build up to the 2020 polls.

Celebrities obviously play a huge role in luring their huge fan base to align on their political tangent which is why the aforementioned parties have made them an indispensable part of their quest to retain or wrestle power.

But on the same wavelength, a lot of Ghanaians, through brainwashing and prejudice, don’t get influenced by what celebs say as they still go ahead to vote for the party they have been voting for since they started exercising their franchise. This brings us to the scope of this article, why some top artistes who have endorsed Nana Akufo Addo will rather make him lose miserably indirectly.

As a matter of fact, the signs on the wall which boldly reads that Nana Akufo Addo will lose the forthcoming elections are still intact.

Meanwhile, the NDC has decided not to engage in the activities of stars for their campaign this year owing to the uncouth and intolerant behavior of their main political opponent, the NPP.

1. Samini

Samini shocked everyone when he recorded a campaign song for Nana Akufo Addo, years after he claimed celebs openly declaring their political affiliation is in a bad taste. Samini used to be a revered artiste whose longevity in the industry inspires a lot of up and coming stars. But given the poverty that plagues his own hometown and the fact that the NPP has done nothing to alleviate their suffering and yet he turned a blind eye to endorse Nana Addo in the next minute, his native people will rise against the NPP during the voting process and that’s why Nana Akufo is heading towards a shock defeat this December.

2. Daddy Lumba

It’s a fact that Daddy Lumba’s legendary status hasn’t been compromised despite his massive love for the NPP. However, in what seems like another déjà vu, his recent endorsement of Nana Akufo Addo which we all saw coming won’t alter the fortunes of the incumbent president since Nana still lost back in 2008 despite his beautiful campaign song for him.

3. Sarkodie

Sarkodie has been diplomatic in his approach to political issues in this country which is why he still earns my respect. After his so-called political endorsement song ‘Happy Day’ gave Nana Akufo Addo thumbs up for his great work within his first tenure of office, the iconic rap lord plainly told Nana Akufo Addo that the song is not for him in a tweet banter he had with him. So obviously there’s not going to be any impact for Nana Akufo Addo and no amount of endorsement from any celebrity can save him in office.
