The announcement follows Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, who immediately began altering the company’s operations and product roadmap. Since then, rumors have abounded on Twitter regarding the date and size of the anticipated layoffs.

The internal document also claims that employee badge access to Twitter’s headquarters will be “temporarily” turned off. According to the internal memo, employees will receive an email by 9 AM PST on November 4th verifying whether or not they have been laid off.

According to persons familiar with the situation, Bloomberg earlier this week claimed that Elon Musk intended to fire 3,700 Twitter employees or almost half of the company’s existing employees. The decision was made in an effort to reduce expenses after Musk spent $44 billion to buy the business.

Yes, the first significant action by Elon Musk following the completion of his acquisition of the firm last week has been the start of significant employee layoffs at Twitter. Twitter informed staff members in an email received Thursday night and seen by NBC News that the business will email them about their employment status.

How Many People are Twitter Laying off?

The number of people Twitter is laying off is around 7,500 since Elon Musk took total control of the company. It will interest you to know that CEO Parag Agrawal and many other top executives were fired on his day as the new owner of Twitter.

Other workers at Twitter expressed dissatisfaction with Musk and the company’s other executives’ lack of internal communication over the previous week in Slack and group chats. One data scientist stated in a Slack message directed to leadership that was viewed by The Verge, “I really wish you all the best – for your sake, for the sake of your teams, and for the benefit of the many individuals and communities this product supports.” But I also hope that your failure during the past week serves as a reminder to do better.

By 9AM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter. Please check your email, including your spam folder.

– If your employment is impacted, you will receive a notification with next steps via your personal email.

– If you do not receive an email from twitter-hr@ by 5PM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, please email peoplequestions@twitter.com.
