The MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam ‘DZATA’ George, has alleged that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) sponsored his opponent Michael Kwetey Tetteh during the recently held National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries.

Sam George indicated that some powerful individuals within the government pointed it out to him in the company of John Jinapor, MP for Yapei Kusawgu, that they were going to make sure that he loses his seat during the parliamentary primaries.

“A very key person in the government said to me that ‘look we are taking you out….you can go up and come, we will take you out’….and I saw the mighty hand of the state in this elections” he alleged.

Sam George is of the staunch belief that his constituency is a stronghold of NDC and that it won’t be easy for the NPP to win during the general election, therefore, the only way they could take him out is to sponsor his opponent to win.

“The NPP’s candidate who made the move during the 2016 elections has now transferred his vote to Bortianor so the NPP is now shopping for a potential candidate,” he stated on Citi TV’s Point of View.

He further indicated that even though his predecessor, ET Mensah is on retirement, he also had an interest in ensuring that he lost the primary.

Sam Nartey George defeated his contender Michael Kwetey Tetteh by seven votes to retain the ticket to represent his constituency in the 2020 parliamentary election.

Certified results declared by Charles Botchey Jnr, the Electoral Commission official gave Samuel Nartey George 407 votes as against 400 votes obtained by Mr. Micheal Kwetey Tetteh. Two ballots paper were rejected.

A total of 809 delegates from 89 out of the 93 branches took part in the NDC primary.
