Controversial Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has questioned the National Peace Council for their silence after the comment made by former president of Ghana John Mahama to tear the country apart.

He has expressed his worry why John Dramani Mahama has not been called for saying that there will be chaos in Ghana if the Electoral Commission (EC) goes ahead to compile of a new voters’ register.

Former President John Dramani Mahama in his speech recently cautioned the Electoral Commission (EC) against the compilation of a new voters’ register indicating it may cause chaos in the country.

According to John Mahama, the time left for the general election is inadequate to compile a new voter’s register.

Speaking to some Western Region fisher folks on Wednesday, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer said EC Chairpers on, Jean Mensa and her subordinates will be held responsible if there is any violence after the 2020 elections.

“So if on December 7, 2020, we all go to our polling stations to vote and the machines fail or a lot of people don’t find their names and the election doesn’t go down well, then what are we going to do.

That is why we [Inter-Party Resistance Against New Voters’ Register] are telling Jean Mensa and her outfit that they should be careful,” he added.

However, reacting to this, Kennedy Agyapong expressed shock at the silence of the Peace Council and Christian council of Ghana.

According to him, these bodies should come out and condemn the comments made by the NDC flagbearer.

“The problem I have in Ghana is that if there is a problem and it’s about the NDC, Peace Council, Christian Council, all the NGOs and whatever, nobody will say anything about it because I’ve not heard anybody condemning Mahama’s statement.” He noted.
