The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, left Ghana on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, for the Ivory Coast to attend the funeral of the late Hamed Bakayoko, Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast.

The funeral, to be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, will take place in Abidjan, the capital of the Ivory Coast.

Last Thursday, President Alassane Outtarra announced an eight-day period of national mourning for the late Prime Minister, with the burial scheduled for Friday, March 19.

The President will return to Ghana on Wednesday March 17, 2021 and, in his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will act in his place, in accordance with Article 60 (8) of the Constitution.
