He rose to prominence after appearing with Shy Glizzy on the GoldLink single “Crew” in 2016, which was certified 5 Platinum by the RIAA and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Faiyaz founded the Sonder band in October 2016 with music producers Dpat and Atu. The group’s first single which was dubbed, “Too Fast,” was released on October 25. In the song “Crew,” rapper GoldLink featured Faiyaz and rapper Shy Glizzy.

Sonder’s debut EP, Into, was released on January 26, 2017, earning them the title of “Artist of the Month” for January 2017. The EP was ranked 23rd on Complex’s list of “The Best Albums of 2017 (So Far).”

Faiyaz was featured in GoldLink’s remix of “Crew” in 2017, alongside Shy Glizzy and Gucci Mane.

Faiyaz made an appearance on the 2019 track “Demonz (Interlude)” from Juice Wrld’s second studio album Death Race for Love.
