An aide to former President John Mahama, Mr Stan Xoese Dogbe has denied ever smashing the recorder of Yahaya Kwamoah, a journalist at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in 2015.

According to Stan Dogbe in an interview on Joy Fm, he only took the recorder from the reporter and dropped it on the floor because he was recording without his permission.

“I never smashed it, I didn’t touch the gentleman, I didn’t hold him, I didn’t even know who he was. It was not until we had finished with Sammy’s family and Co before Maxwell Okamafour and Co came and said,. “Oh the guy was from GBC radio” Stan Dogbe disclosed.

Stan pointed out that it is the job of a journalist to fish out information no matter the situation but it is bad ethics to record a person without their consent. ” When i find out, I have to stop you from doing that. So I dropped the recorder, I never smashed it. I never hit it with a stone but of course, once the story came out and how it was portrayed and role of the Media foundation for West Africa, and people were paid to raise petition against Stan Dogbe and make noise about it…” he stated.

However, Stan disclosed that he has apologised to the journalist Yahaya Kwamoah as well as GJA President Affrail Monney and has also replaced the recorder he dropped on the floor with a new one.
